Nobokontho24: A student leader has filed a case at Shahbagh police station against the student leaders in connection with Tuesday’s clashes in front of Curzon Hall of Dhaka University. It includes the general secretary of the student body Saif Mahmood Jewel, senior president Rashed Iqbal Khan, joint general secretary Md. Rakibul Islam Rakib, The Convener of the Dhobi Students’ Group Akhter Hossain, Member Secretary of the Dhobi Students’ Group Md. 17 people, including Amanullah Aman, have been named and another 50 to 60 others have been charged.

Jahidul Islam Zahid, president of Dhaka University’s Dr. Mohammad Shahidullah Hall, was accepted on Friday night when he filed an application for the case. Officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police station Maudut Hawlader confirmed the information.

The OC said sub-inspector of Shahbagh police station, Md. Al-Amin has been tasked with investigating the case. Zahidul Islam said, “On that day, we marched peacefully from Madhur Canteen and on our way back to Shahidullah Hall, as soon as we reached in front of Curzon Hall in Doyel Square, the student leaders led by the general secretary of the student group, Saif Mahmud Jewel, started beating us with sticks and iron rods with the intention of killing us.

He said several people, including eight students of Shahidullah Hall, were injured in the incident. They were rescued and treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. There was a delay in filing our case by collecting all the documents, including the hospital’s arrangements and X-ray reports of the injured.
