Nobokontho24:: Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique said that three crore takas should be earned daily to pay off the foreign loan taken for the electricity cost, management cost and construction of the metro rail.

He came up with this information at a press conference organized at Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital on Monday.

MAN Siddique said that 90 thousand passengers traveled on the metro rail from the day after the inauguration till the January 8. A total of, Tk 88 lakh earned so far. However, the 20.12 km route from Uttara North station to Motijheel will be opened in December.

He said, this route of metro rail should generate thousands of crores of takas annually. But according to the plan we have, we can earn this income, there will be no problem. The debt we have and management costs will not be a problem.

DMTCL MD said, it will take another year to complete the remaining part from Agargaon to Motijheel. Work is progressing with the target of finishing this section work by December.

MAN Siddique said that the metro rail will run from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm instead of 8:00 am. But the gate will open from 8 am and close at 12 pm. And as many passengers as there are at the station, the train will run with all the passengers.
