Nobokontho24, barishal:: Bangladesh beat visiting England by 4 wickets in the second T20I of the three-match series to clinch the series with one match to go. Batting first, England all out for 117 in 20 over. In reply, Bangladesh chased it down in 18.5 overs losing 6 wickets.

 

 

Chasing a modest target, Bangladesh lost opener Liton Das (9) in the third ball of the third over. Rony Talukdar who was comfortable against the pacers got out off Archer scoring 9 off 14.

 

 

Previous match half-centurion Najmul Hossain Shanto and young Towhid Hridoy tried to rebuild for Bangladesh. They added 29 (31) for the third wicket stand before the latter got out for 17 off Rehan, the debutant leg spinner.

 

 

Shanto and Miraz played sensible cricket to keep Bangladesh on track. They added 41 runs off 32 balls for the fourth-wicket stand before Miraz got out for 20 off 16, his innings studded with 2 sixes. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan (0) also got out in quick succession while trying for a six off Moeen Ali.

 

 

Afif Hossain failed once again. But Najmul Hossain Shanto did not let further wicket loss and left the field after confirming victory for Bangladesh. Shanto made 46 off 47 not out and Taskin made 8 off 3 not out.

 

 

For England, Jofra Archer took 3/13, Rehan Ahmed 1/11, Sam Curran 1/15, and Moeen Ali 1/25.

 

 

Earlier, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 4/12 helped Bangladesh to bowl England out for 117 in 20 overs in the second T20I of the three-match series at Mirpur today.

 

 

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan decided to field after winning the toss at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

 

 

Taskin Ahmed struck at the beginning to take the wicket of English opener Dawid Malan (5 off 8) as Bangladesh are bowling first in the second T20I at Mirpur.

 

 

 

Phil Salt and Moeen Ali tried to rebuild for England but their resistance did not last long as Salt (25 off 19) got dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan.

 

 

 

Then, England lost wickets at regular intervals except for Ben Duckett who kept one side intact. Before got out as number eight batter Buckett made team highest 28 off 28, his innings adorned with 2 fours.

 

 

 

For, Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 4/12 while Shakib Al Hasan 1/13, Mustafizur Rahman 1/19, Hasan Mahmud 1/10 and Taskin Ahmed bagged 1/27.
