Nobokontho24: A BNP leader named Maulana Akhter Hossain (45) was killed in a truck accident in Barisal. The accident took place in front of the Cadet College on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway around 7pm on Thursday (May 26).
The deceased was identified as Maulana Akhter Hossain, general secretary of Otra Union BNP in Uzirpur upazila and teacher of Jugirkanda Dakhil Madrasa. Airport police have seized the deadly truck in the incident.
Confirming the matter, Airport Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamlesh Chandra Haldar said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue of Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The deadly truck was seized but the driver escaped.
It is learned that Akhter Hossain left Barisal for home after completing the BNP rally. On the way, a truck coming from the opposite direction in front of the registrar’s office adjacent to Cadet College crushed him. He was killed on the spot.
